GeoProMining Gold opens multimedia classroom in Ararat village

The Russian-owned GeoProMining Gold (GPM Gold) has opened a multimedia classroom in the secondary school #3 in Ararat village as part of its project designed to support Armenian educational establishments.

YEREVAN, September 12. /ARKA/. The Russian-owned GeoProMining Gold (GPM Gold) has opened a multimedia classroom in the secondary school #3 in Ararat village as part of its project designed to support Armenian educational establishments.

The company said in a press release that ‘Promotion of education and assistance to communities, where the company is present are important points of its comprehensive corporate social responsibility program.’ Multimedia classroom in the village of Ararat is the third such project of the company.

Earlier, similar classrooms were opened in the city of Armavir (together with the South Caucasian Railway) and at school #4 in Vardenis.

Multimedia technologies enable to integrate teaching of several subjects in a single process. Visualization and interactivity increase the interest of the pupils in learning making it more effective. With the assistance of Russian Rossotrudnichestvo state agency the classrooms teach Russian and English languages.

GPM Gold CEO, Vladimir Kozlov, was quoted as saying that the company is extending its support also to universities. He said with the support of the company five students began training at universities in Armenia and Russia.

GeoProMining was founded in 2001. In Armenia it owns two assets – the Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine and GPMGold, developing the Sotk gold mine and running Ararat gold recovery factory. In the past two years it has invested more than $260 million in its Armenian assets. -0-
