YEREVAN, September 7. /ARKA/. Kindergartens in Yerevan, which were closed due to the coronavirus, will resume their work, spokesman for the mayor's office Hakob Karapetyan wrote in a Facebook post.

He said all preschool institutions subordinate to the Yerevan mayor's office will resume on September 15 along with secondary schools and universities.

At the same time, he pointed out a number of restrictions. Particularly, each group will consist of 12 children who attended kindergarten in 2019 and 2020. Priority will be given to children aged 5-6 years with working parents, to children of parents with first or second category disabilities as well as to children of kindergarten employees.

According to him, the admission of already enrolled children has been temporarily suspended.

"Attaching importance to preschool education, as well as wanting to help families, we count on your understanding because of the coronavirus-caused restrictions on the number of children who can be admitted by kindergartens now," Karapetyan wrote.

The state of emergency in order to suppress the spread of the coronavirus was declared in Armenia on March 16, 2020, and then it was extended five times for a month each time. The latest extension ends on September 11.

Restrictions on free movement and some types of economic activity introduced on March 24 were removed on May 4. On May 18, public transport, gyms, kindergartens and catering facilities were allowed to resume and starting from August 12, foreigners are allowed to enter the country. The government also allowed holding meetings and rallies, but wearing face coverings in public places and observing social distance remain mandatory. -0-
