The level of Armenia's Lake Sevan has risen since the beginning of this year to 1 900.81 meters in late June, the National Statistical Committee of Armenia reported on Monday.

YEREVAN, August 12. /ARKA/. The level of Armenia's Lake Sevan has risen since the beginning of this year to 1 900.81 meters in late June, the National Statistical Committee of Armenia reported on Monday. The lake's level has also risen from the 1 900.75 recorded in early June ( up 0.06 m).
By August 2, 2019, some 82.64 million cubic meters of water have been released from the lake, and this is 45 million cubic meters less than was taken from Sevan over the same period a year before.
The law permits to release 170 million cubic meters from the lake every year, however, in 2017 the allowed volume was increased by 100 million cubic meters. In 2018, the permitted volume of water release was left unchanged, but on August 29, 2019, the parliament approved a proposal to increase it to 210 million cubic meters.
Sevan is one of the largest mountainous lakes in Europe and Asia. It sits in the middle of Armenian Highland at an altitude of 1914 meters above sea level.
