YEREVAN, November 10. /ARKA/. Armenian National Assembly’s Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection Issues approved on Friday a legislative initiative on extending the term of subsidies provided to residents of border communities to pay their natural gas, electricity and water bills for another 3 years.

'It is clear that border settlements still need social support," said Vache Terteryan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.

He noted that residents of about 82 communities and settlements are eligible to subsidies under a law that was adopted back in 2014 and has been extended twice.

Under this law, residents are provided with property tax compensation, as well as 50% compensation for gas, electricity and irrigation water bills. -0--
