YEREVAN, October 30. /ARKA/. As many as 620,000 doses of Spikevax Covid-19 vaccines manufactured by the Moderna company, donated to Armenia by Norway with the support of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism as part of the Team Europe initiative, have arrived in Armenia, the Ministry of Health reported today.

The vaccines were handed over to the Ministry of Health at the Zvartnots airport in Yerevan by the EU Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin and the Norwegian Ambassador Helen Sand Andresen.

“Thanks to such a large donation, we will have the opportunity to increase the percentage of vaccination of the population, expand coverage throughout Armenia,” said Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan.

“We hope that the vaccines will help Armenia protect itself from the pandemic in the context of solidarity with loved ones and the general public,” Andresen said.

“Taking into account the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Armenia and the need to increase the level of vaccination, we believe that the vaccines have arrived at the right time. We believe that thanks to the wide range of vaccines available to the citizens of Armenia, it will be possible to achieve a higher vaccination rate,” Ambassador Wiktorin said.

In Armenia, vaccinations against COVID-19 are free and available at any clinic 7 days a week for people over 18 years old, including foreigners. The following vaccines are used : CoronaVac and Sinofarm (China), AstraZeneca (Britain, Sweden), Sputnik V (Russia) and Moderna (USA). -0-
