The majority of foreigners who apply to Armenia's Migration Service to obtain permanent residence permits are from Syria, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan, the deputy head of the Migration Service Irina Davtyan said today. In her words, Russians citizens make the bulk of those who apply for temporary residence permits.
She specified that about 10 thousand Russian citizens have applied for temporary residence permits. She added that they can stay in Armenia for only one or two years. According to her, in the first half of 2019, the number of Indian citizens coming to Armenia dropped. She said 3,723 Indian citizens lived in Armenia in 2018, but in 2019 this number decreased by 2,295 people.
As for the citizens of Pakistan, which to date has not officially recognized Armenia as an independent state, according to Irina Davtyan, their number in Armenia is insignificant.
She said citizens from countries like Côte d'Ivoire and Cuba also had applied to the Migration Service earlier. The permanent population of Armenia as of July 1, 2019 was estimated at 2,961,600 people. -0-
