Total of $150,000 raised at charity dinner for Hayastan Fund for construction in Maraga of Karabakh

A total of $150,000 was raised (donations and promises) at a charity dinner in Toronto on November 16 for Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. The money will be spent on second stage construction of a community center in Maraga village of Karabakh.

YEREVAN, November 26. /ARKA/. A total of $150,000 was raised (donations and promises) at a charity dinner in Toronto on November 16 for Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. The money will be spent on second stage construction of a community center in Maraga village of Karabakh.

An auction held during the dinner offered frock-coats and cuffs presented by prominent family tailors, as well as the canon (Armenian string fingered musical instrument) of well-known musician Hasmik Leyloyan.

Head of Hayastan local body in Toronto Mkrtich Mkrtchyan said the community continues donations and the total amount will reach 225,000 dollars by the end of November when the annual telethon will launch.

Hayastan All-Armenian Fund was established in 1992 to implement projects of national importance and help develop infrastructures in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. 

In general, projects worth a total of over $235.8 million were implemented in Armenia and Karabakh over 20 years of the Fund’s existence. –0--
