U.S. government allocates additional $1.4 million to Armenia for combating COVID-19

The United States Government has allocated an additional $1.4 million through the U.S. State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for combating COVID-19 impacts in Armenia, the USAID Armenia Mission reported on Monday.

YEREVAN, August 24. /ARKA/. The United States Government has allocated an additional $1.4 million through the U.S. State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for combating COVID-19 impacts in Armenia, the USAID Armenia Mission reported on Monday.

According to the report, the U.S. Government has provided over $4 million to Armenia in 2020 emergency assistance. 
The United States is providing life-saving support by coordinating with the Government of Armenia, international humanitarian partners and other concerned parties to identify priority areas for investment. 

It says $1 million in new USAID assistance will support the agriculture and tourism sectors in recovering economically from the pandemic, and adapting their needs to the post-COVID world.

Extra $436,000 will be provided for catering for needs of vulnerable categories of migrants, who are not able to return home because of the pandemic. Shelter, food, and access to medical and social services are among these needs.

The United State also calls on other donors to contribute to the global struggle against the coronavirus. 

According to the latest report released Monday morning, there are 42,825 confirmed COVID-19 infection cases 854 deaths and 36,049 recovered patients in Armenia. -0---
