University of Tehran considering opening branch in Armenia

The University of Tehran  (UT) is considering opening a branch in Yerevan, Armenia, UT President, Professor Seyyed Mohammad Moghimi said at a meeting with the Rector of the Yerevan State University (YSU) Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, who was on an official visit to the Iranian capital June 12-24.

YEREVAN, June 27. /ARKA/. The University of Tehran (UT) is considering opening a branch in Yerevan, Armenia, UT President, Professor Seyyed Mohammad Moghimi said at a meeting with the Rector of the Yerevan State University (YSU) Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, who was on an official visit to the Iranian capital June 12-24.

During the meeting the sides discussed the ways and prospects to expand the cooperation between the two universities, which will also play a constructive and positive role in the development of economic and social relations between the two countries.

YSU Rector Hovhannisyan noted that there is a great interest in the Iranian language and literature in Armenia, so within the framework of cooperation the Yerevan State University expects to expand opportunities for the exchange of experience and scientific skills in these areas.

The University of Tehran is one of the largest and oldest educational institutions in Iran. It has 50 faculties, 130 departments and about a thousand –member faculty.

The Yerevan State University delegation also visited the University of Religions and Beliefs in Qom, where they met with the president and the deans of the faculties of the university and learned about the history of the university, its main activities and ongoing programs.

Memorandum of Understanding was signed to establish and develop cooperation between the two universities. In the framework of the document the Yerevan State University will implement exchange programs for students and researchers, implement joint research projects in the areas of mutual interest, organize various events. --0--
