Veolia Jur and Water Committee to invest around 11 billion drams in modernization of water supply and sanitation in Yerevan
YEREVAN, August 5. /ARKA/. Armenia's national water distribution company, Veolia Jur, which is run by the French company Veolia Générale des Eaux, and the Water Committee, will invest around 11 billion drams to improve the system, according to the press service of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC).
According to the regulator, the agreement signed on July 16 of this year between Veolia Jur CJSC and the Water Committee amended the lease agreement to expand investment obligations.
The agreement provides for capital investments of around 11 billion drams in 2025–2026 to improve the water supply and sanitation systems in Yerevan and its surrounding communities.
These investments will be made at the expense of the annual rent stipulated in the contract between the lessor and lessee, as well as the lessee's mandatory capital program. This will ensure the partial reconstruction of internal networks in Yerevan and the surrounding communities. As a result, an additional 270 liters of water per second will be supplied to the water supply network due to the reduction of total water losses.
The PSRC noted that, given the critical reduction in water sources in recent years, these investments will fully compensate for the water deficit in the water supply system.
Since January 1, 2017, Veolia Jur has managed the properties of five water supply companies under a 15-year concession agreement.-0-
