Yerevan Municipality dismantles illegally built kiosks
YEREVAN, June 23. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality has dismantled several structures, mainly kiosks, which had been built illegally at night hours in Ajapnyak and Shengavit administrative districts, the Municipality said today in a press release.
"The Yerevan Municipality, with the active assistance of the police, has dismantled illegal kiosks in Halabyan, Margaryan and Hasratyan streets in the Ajapnyak community, which were installed in recent days at night hours," it said.
It said illegally built kiosks were also dismantled in the Shengavit community. The owners of a number of other illegally built kiosks have promised to dismantle them on their own in a short time.
"The process of dismantling buildings, which were erected with ignoring the public interest will be consistent. The Yerevan Municipality calls again on all to respect the law and refrain from actions that violate the public interest," the press release says.
Earlier, Mayor Hayk Marutyan stated that an armed gang is operating in the Ajapnyak community comprising about 40-50 people, who build kiosks without the permission of the mayor's office, threatening officials and law enforcement officers.
According to him, many persons from various state bodies, the judicial system, and neighborhood tough guys are involved in these schemes. - 0--
