YEREVAN, September 6. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister NIkol Pashinyan received Thursday UEFA President Alexander Cheferin, and President of the Football Federation of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan was in attendance, the press office of the Armenian government reports.

Nikol Pashinyan appreciated UEFA’s support to the development of football infrastructures in Armenia, noting that as a result a range of projects aimed at popularizing football are underway in the country.

The premier expressed confidence that the UEFA president’s visit would foster partnership between the UEFA and the Football Federation of Armenia, including the construction of a new national stadium in our country.

Alexander Cheferin, in return, thanked the Armenian premier for the warm welcome and for the attention paid to the development of football on Armenia. He expressed satisfaction at the ongoing cooperation with the partners of the Football Federation of Armenia, noting that the UEFA will continue to promote the development of football in our country, inclusive of infrastructure.

It was noted that with the support of UEFA 76 stadiums with artificial turf will be built in Armenia’s provinces during this year, as well as necessary stuff will be provided to the Football Federation of Armenia to implement projects aimed at promoting futsal and women’s football in the country.

The UEFA President noted that in the modern world football has become a separate branch of economy, where huge amounts of money are circulated. The interlocutors shared the opinion that football plays an important role in public life in terms of consolidation.

During the meeting, the parties referred to the upcoming projects of cooperation between the UEFA and the Football Federation of Armenia.
