Former Ajax head coach appointed as head coach of Armenian national football team
Former head coach of Ajax and the Greek national team, 61-year-old John van't Schip will lead the Armenian national football team.

YEREVAN, February 17. /ARKA/. Former head coach of Ajax and the Greek national team, 61-year-old John van't Schip will lead the Armenian national football team.
President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) Armen Melikbekyan introduced the coach to the members of the FFA Executive Committee today, who endorsed van't Schip's candidacy.
The coach will start his duties from March 1, 2025. The contract is concluded under the 1+1 scheme.
The former head coach of the Armenian team, Ukrainian Alexander Petrakov was suspended on October 13, after the defeat of the national team to North Macedonia.
After that match, the footbal fan movement resumed their demand for the resignation Armen Melikbekyan, accusing him of ignoring the real problems in Armenian football.
Melikbekyan refuses to leave his post, saying he understands the discontent of fans but will not accept ultimatums. -0-
