Six people in Byureghavan have sought medical attention with complaints consistent with an intestinal infection, the Armenian Ministry of Health reports.
YEREVAN, September 7. /ARKA/. Six people in Byureghavan have sought medical attention with complaints consistent with an intestinal infection, the Armenian Ministry of Health reports.
According to preliminary data, the cases were registered on September 6. Three patients are receiving treatment in the infectious diseases department, while the others received outpatient care.
Specialists from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health conducted weekly water sampling at various addresses in Byureghavan in August. Laboratory tests revealed no abnormalities.
On Sunday, specialists from the center, together with Veolia Jur CJSC and the Health and Labor Inspectorate, will conduct repeat water sampling at the addresses of the residents who sought medical attention, as well as in other parts of the city. Biological samples from the patients will also be tested.
Until further information is available, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention has urged residents of Byureghavan to temporarily avoid drinking tap water or using it for cooking.
This is the third case of intestinal infection in Byureghavan in 2026. In April, 30 cases were registered, with 11 people hospitalized. Coliform bacteria were detected in water samples, while rotavirus, adenovirus, and a number of intestinal pathogens were found in the patients' biomaterials.
In July, 15 people sought medical attention with similar symptoms, six of whom were hospitalized. Abnormalities were detected in three of the 14 water samples.
