ArmenTel and SPB TV launch IPTV service in Armenia

YEREVAN, April 17. / ARKA /. ArmenTel telecom (trading as Beeline) and SPB TV have launched today IPTV service in Armenia. ArmenTel CEO, Andrei Pyatakhin, said the IPTV will be available not only in Yerevan and large cities, but throughout the country, where the Beeline fixed telephone network is available. He emphasized the social significance of the service by saying that investment in similar projects beyond large cities are not paying back, however, the company implemented it realizing that access to television in small communities is especially important. SPB TV CEO, Kiril Filippov, said the market of IPTV and mobile solutions in Armenia is on the rise prompting the company to launch this service both for large cities and small communities in remote areas. He said the technical solution and the platform were provided by SPB TV, which operates in many countries and has more than 30 million users worldwide and is effective for all mobile media services. He said the basic package includes 50 Armenian, Russian and foreign TV channels of completely legal content for the price of 3 thousand drams monthly. He also said that in addition to the existing package the company will buy the rights to sports channels, which will be added to the basic package. He said subscribers will be provided with set top box, which can be connected to the Internet modem via the network cable or Wi-Fi adapter. TV sets and other devices with analog or HDMI input can receive the signal from the set-top box. If necessary, the company offers IPTV equipment installation for 1,700 drams.
