YEREVAN, July 10. / ARKA /. The Enterprises Incubator Foundation (EIF) has initiated Technology Weekend in Armenia as part of IBM Centre for Innovative Solutions.

According to an EIF press release, the Technology Weekend that kicks off on Saturday will be hosted by AYB educational foundation and will bring together Armenian start-ups and teams, as well as creative and innovative young people. 

The two-day event will feature a number of competitions as well as interesting and innovative ideas. In particular, leading US experts will present the latest developments relating to WATSON and BlueMix platforms.

The event will also feature a 24-hour Hackathon (a programming contest of 2-4 member teams) based on the IBM BlueMix cloud platform. The best two teams will be awarded 500 thousand dram prizes each and another one will be given two smartphones as incentive prizes. 

This platform will allow teams to use innovative solutions in such areas as health, artificial intelligence, mobile technologies, designed by IBM.

The event will also feature the first in Armenia Slash 2015 Global Impact Accelerator competition adapted for Armenian startups.

Slash is an annual international technology conference for new innovative companies (start-ups) and techno-talents.  During the conference meetings are organized for leading international investors, managers and media representatives to enable IT companies to develop their business.

In 2015, the Slash competition will be held November 11-12 in Helsinki, Finland. The winner of the Armenian competition will travel to Helsinki.

IBM Center for Innovative Solutions and Technology is a joint program of IBM, USAID, the government of Armenia and the Enterprise Incubator Foundation. -0-
