ENA to reduce electricity losses to 6.54%, minister says

The national power distribution company Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) is resolute to further lower electricity distribution losses, Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan said on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, March 21. /ARKA/. The national power distribution company Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) is resolute to further lower electricity distribution losses, Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan said on Wednesday. According to him, now the losses make 8.8% , down from 15% several years ago.
He said the target for the next years is to bring the losses to 6.54% through investments in the distribution network. According to the ministry, in some post-Soviet countries the losses in the energy system are about 9-10%.
ENA is owned by the Russia-based Tashir group of companies. It pledged late last year to invest $900 million into the modernization of the Electric Networks of Armenia.
The Tashir group of companies is owned by Russian businessman of Armenian origin Samvel Karapetyan, which in September 2015 acquired two Armenian energy assets-the ENA and Hrazdan TPP from the Russian power holding Inter RAO UES. -0-
