Enterprise Incubator Foundation names winners of Technology Weekend

The Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) has named the winners of a Technology Weekend, conducted last weekend in Armenia with the assistance from the IBM Center for Innovative Solutions and Technologies.
YEREVAN, July 15. / ARKA /. The Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) has named the winners of a Technology Weekend, conducted last weekend in Armenia with the assistance from the IBM Center for Innovative Solutions and Technologies.
They are Vuplex and Simplex, two teams of programmers who competed with another 10 teams during a 24-hour Hackathon contest based on the IBM BlueMix cloud platform. The winners were awarded 500 thousand drams (a little over of $1000) prizes each. Another team called Brainstorm was awarded two smartphones as an incentive prize.
"It is encouraging that despite their young age, all the participants presented interesting and innovative solutions. The IBM BlueMix platform provided them with ample opportunities for programming their own ideas," said Hayk Farmazyan, CEO of GNC-ALFA telecommunications company (a subsidiary of Rostelecom), one of the sponsors of the contest.
"It is a very interesting competition that prompted the teams to work more actively. Generally, Hackathon based on cloud platform forces any team to think in a new direction, acquiring simultaneously new knowledge, " said a member of Simplex team Nairi Narinyan.
The event also featured the first in Armenia Slash 2015 Global Impact Accelerator competition of 11 teams. Three best teams- Paqqy, Rederforest and Chally- will represent Armenia at Slash international competition to be held November 11-12 in Helsinki, Finland.
Slash is an annual international technology conference for new innovative companies (start-ups) and techno-talents. During the conference meetings are organized for leading international investors, managers and media representatives to enable IT companies to develop their business.
IBM Center for Innovative Solutions and Technology is a joint program of IBM, USAID, the government of Armenia and the Enterprise Incubator Foundation. -0-
