YEREVAN, January 11, /ARKA/. Armenia has climbed 6 notches in the updated Passport Index 2022, published by Henley & Partners, occupying the 78th position.

The Henley Passport Index is a ranking of all the world's passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a visa. Armenia is now 78th among about 200 countries.

The improvement of Armenia's position in the index is due to changes in the positions of other countries. During the reporting period, Armenia concluded an agreement on visa-free travel with Oman. Therefore, the holders of Armenian passports have now access to 65 countries without visa. 

Comparatively, holders of Georgian passport can travel visa-free to 115 countries. Azerbaijan is in the 74th position, Kazakhstan is 75th, and Belarus is 65th.

Japan and Singapore have the strongest passports in the world and allow access to 192 destinations around the world visa-free – 166 more than Afghanistan, which sits at the bottom of the index.

Germany and South Korea hold onto joint second spot on the latest ranking, with passport holders able to access 190 destinations visa-free, while Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, and Spain share third place, with a score of 189. -0-
