Tourist flow to Armenia from January to August 2026 decreased by 2.5%

The number of tourist visits to Armenia from January to August 2026 amounted to approximately 1,467,300, which is 2.5% less than for the same period in 2025 (more than 1.5 million visits), according to data from the RA Tourism Committee.
YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. The number of tourist visits to Armenia from January to August 2026 amounted to approximately 1,467,300, which is 2.5% less than for the same period in 2025 (more than 1.5 million visits), according to data from the RA Tourism Committee.
The largest number of tourists in the first eight months of this year came from Russia – 40% (almost 585,100). Georgia is second with 14% (over 203,300), and Iran is third with 8% (over 116,100).
According to the Committee, 227,026 tourist visits were registered in Armenia in August 2026 alone, compared to 334,396 in August 2025. This represents a 32.1% year-on-year decline.
Compared to July 2026, when 264,630 tourist visits were registered, the August figure decreased by 14.2%.
On Tourism Development
The Strategic Program for Tourism Development in Armenia for 2026–2030 was approved by the government on January 8, 2026. It envisages the development of regional and domestic tourism, improved infrastructure and services, active international promotion of the country, and an annual increase in tourist visits to 3 million by 2030.
