Armenia is self-sufficient tourism destination: Russian expert says

"Armenia is a unique country for lovers of historical, cultural, and event tourism and in this sense it is quite self-sufficient. Here in a few days, one can get the full range of high quality tourism services," Yuri Lagusev, the rector of the Russian International Academy of Tourism said in an interview with Novosti Armenia.

YEREVAN, October 12. / ARKA /. "Armenia is a unique country for lovers of historical, cultural, and event tourism and in this sense it is quite self-sufficient. Here in a few days, one can get the full range of high quality tourism services," Yuri Lagusev, the rector of the Russian International Academy of Tourism said in an interview with Novosti Armenia.
Lagusev was among the participants of the first scientific tourism expedition in Armenia, which was conducted from September 30 to October 9 by the Russian International Academy of Tourism and its Armenian branch – the Armenian Tourism Institute.
The unprecedented event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Russia was to help reveal Armenia’s tourism potential and promote its development. The route ran through the whole of Armenia - from north to south. According to Lagusev, Armenia’s tourism potential is high. "The beauty of its nature and cultural attractions are amazing," Lagusev said.
He said in order to bring more tourists there should be various events. "If there is an attractive event, spiritual or athletic, as
well as cultural events, festivals, they will bring more tourists to Armenia," he said.
"For example, Armenia’s open championships of water and mountainous tourism will attract athletes, coaches and fans," he said. -0-
