The number of foreign tourists who visited Armenia in 2017 increased by 18.7% from the previous year to 1,494,779 people, the head of the State Tourism Committee Zarmine Zeytuntsyan told reporters today.
YEREVAN, February 15. /ARKA/. The number of foreign tourists who visited Armenia in 2017 increased by 18.7% from the previous year to 1,494,779 people, the head of the State Tourism Committee Zarmine Zeytuntsyan told reporters today.
She said the growth was provided by Russia, Iran and Western European countries. The number of tourists from China, Japan and also Philippines also grew. The latter arrive in Armenia mainly from the UAE.
She said the committee planned a number of activities for this year designed to raise Armenia's recognition worldwide. According to the National Statistical Service, in 2017, Armenia visited 1,494,779 tourists, up from 1,259,657 in 2016. -0-
