Armenian Card payment system issues 31,617 plastic cards in March, by 11.1% more than in 2010 March

Armenian Card (ArcA) payment system issued 31,617 plastic cards in 2011 March, by 11.1% more than in 2010 March, ArCa said in a press release today.
YEREVAN, April 18, /ARKA/. Armenian Card (ArcA) payment system issued 31,617 plastic cards in 2011 March, by 11.1% more than in 2010 March, ArCa said in a press release today.
According to it, ArCA issued 11,554 ArCa cards, by 31.3% more if compared to 2010 March, 10,218 Visa cards, by 35.9% more from a year earlier and 9,845 MasterCard cards, by 18.8% less than in 2010 March.
The overall number of active cards stood at 609,000 at the end of March, by 26.2% more from a year before, ArCa said. The number of cards used to make transactions rose to 409,719 from 322,732 in 2010 March. Of them 241,398 were ArCa cards ( 17.8% growth), 108, 286 were Visa cards (43,3% growth), and 60,035 were MasterCard cards, the growth was 42%.
Armenian Card company was established in 2000 as a single national system of payments by plastic cards. Today 19 of 21 commercial banks operating in Armenia are ArCa members with a different degree of participation. ArCa is a full member of international payment system MasterCard Europe, and also implements processing of VISA and American Express cards. ($1 – 376.48 Drams). -0-
