Armenia to have a crocodile breeding farm

A crocodile farm will be set up in the Dashtavan community of the Armenian province of Ararat, the governor of the region Gagik Sargsyan said today.

YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. A crocodile farm will be set up in the Dashtavan community of the Armenian province of Ararat, the governor of the region Gagik Sargsyan said today.
He said the company that will be breeding crocodiles has already leased 15 hectares of land in the community and had a meeting with its residents. The governor said in the first year the company will invest $1.5 million in the farm raising the amount to $10 million in the next 5 years.
Sargsyan said that the initiative to breed crocodiles in Armenia belongs to an entrepreneur from Tanzania who carries out similar projects in several countries. He said the investors are interested in the production of crocodile leather. The company will also create a special program for visitors of the farm.-0-
