YEREVAN, August 7. /ARKA/. Armenia’s government provided a license for operations in Meridian free economic zone to GDM Diamond jewelry company at its meeting on Thursday.

The company’s operations will boost jewelry exports growth due to involvement of international actors, and will help create new jobs and facilitate economic development, says the respective government decree. The company is also expected to promote recognition and spread of the Armenian brand.

On February 27, 2014, the Armenian government approved the decision to create Meridian free economic zone. Investments in Meridian free economic zone amounted to about $10 million.

In the first three years the zone is expected to attract from 120 to 150 foreign companies and create up to 2,000 new jobs, with annual exports amounting to $200-250 million.

Preliminary exports agreements have been signed by eight companies from Russia, USA, Algeria, Jordan. Products from these companies will be exported to USA, Russia, UAE, Israel, India, Czech Republic, Thailand, Hong Kong, Austria, Belgium and other countries. –0—
