Regulator suspends operations of cannery in Armenia due to multiple sanitary violations

YEREVAN, March 28. /ARKA/. The activities of the canned fruit and vegetable production plant owned by Sava LLC have been suspended following a decision by the head of the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia.
As a result of an inspection at the production facility (located in Abovyan, Kotayk region), numerous violations of sanitary and hygienic standards were found, as reported by the press service of the regulator.
Specifically:
• The layout, size, and design of the production facilities did not prevent the intersection of food raw materials and products, as well as the contamination of clean goods. This also allowed dirt accumulation and the potential for particles to enter the food products being produced.
• Adequate storage conditions for food raw materials, packaging materials, and food products were not provided.
• The production workshop lacked sufficient washbasins with warm water for handwashing and equipment for drying hands.
• Production clothing and items not used in production (such as welding machines, cables, and construction materials) were stored in the production area.
• The ceiling and structures above the production building were unreliable, failing to prevent dirt accumulation and the risk of falling particles.
• The upper surfaces of the walls were not covered with waterproof, washable, and disinfectable materials, and the entrance door showed signs of corrosion.
• Waste generated during food production was not regularly removed from the production area.
A deadline has been set for correcting these violations.
