YEREVAN, October 18. /ARKA/. By the end of 2027, Armenia plans to complete the establishment of a geological service and transition the issuance of all types of subsoil use permits to a unified digital system. This was announced by David Khudatyan, Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
"The broad application of digitalization tools to develop the sector is already underway. All types of subsoil use permits will be issued using digital tools," the Minister stated on Saturday while speaking at the Mining Armenia Forum 2026 in Tsaghkadzor.
According to him, work on establishing the geological service is also already in progress.
"By the end of 2027, we will have a geological service that will allow us to manage and monitor the sector's existing challenges from a single, centralized hub," Khudatyan noted.
The Minister emphasized that Armenia has begun to secure a notable position on the international map of subsoil use, describing this as a significant achievement for the country. He added that efforts to strengthen this standing must continue.
Discussing the sector's development prospects, Khudatyan pointed out that the mere presence of natural resources does not guarantee economic success.
"Without the necessary expertise, mineral resources can sometimes even pose a threat to the state. Our task is to work together not only to manage this risk but to transform it into an opportunity a source of success and a driver for sustainable, long-term economic development," the Minister declared.
Furthermore, he stressed that the development of subsoil use must be carried out in a manner that does not harm biodiversity.
