Tsitsernakaberd highway in Yerevan is re-opened for transport

Works in the frames of the first phase of road reconstruction of Tsitsernakaberd highway started in June 2010 by the program of Yerevan Municipality are finished.
YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. Works in the frames of the first phase of road reconstruction of Tsitsernakaberd highway started in June 2010 by the program of Yerevan Municipality are finished.
The reconstructed road is opened from November 4. In the result of reconstruction, the width of the road was increased by five meters and the highway became two-lined. There is new system of lighting, water drainage system, the absence of which was a permanent and serious problem.
By the assignment of Yerevan City Mayor Gagik Beglaryan the pavements are also widened up to three meters instead of previous 1.5 meters.
Construction works of second phase of the program are already started, in the frames of which transport bridge will be built which will allow to turn without traffic lights.
The main phase of transport bridge construction will finish by the end of the year and asphalting will be started next year.
For
reconstruction of Tsitsernakaberd highway 1.5 billion drams was allocated from Yerevan budget, of which 866 million was envisaged for the second phase. ($1 – 359.9 drams). -0--
