South Caucasus Railways To Invest AMD 13.5 Billion In Construction Of Vanadzor-Fioletovo Line In Armenia

The South Caucasus Railways Company intends to invest AMD 13.5 billion in construction of Vanadzor-Fioletovo line in Armenia’s province of Lori, Director General of the South Caucasus Railways Shevket Shaydullin said Wednesday at a news conference.
YEREVAN, November 11. /ARKA/. The South Caucasus Railways Company intends to invest AMD 13.5 billion in construction of Vanadzor-Fioletovo line in Armenia’s province of Lori, Director General of the South Caucasus Railways Shevket Shaydullin said Wednesday at a news conference.
He said that this construction would create new jobs.
Shaydulling also said that AMD 315 million would be spent for reconstruction of plundered railway stations.
In his words, eight passenger cars were repaired this year.
Now the company is considering its plans for the next year in details and conducting studies for estimating reconstruction of Dilijan-Ijevan-Sevan railway.
Armenian Transport and Communication Minister Manuk Vardanyan said that South Caucasus Railways Company has done a substantial job over three years.
He didn’t ruled out that room for lowering fares would be discussed in 2011 thanks to money saving and successful solution of organizational problems.
The construction of the 31.2-kilometer Vanadzor-Fioletovo line is estimated to cost$100 million.
South Caucasus Railways, a 100-percent subsidiary of Russian Railways, runs Armenian Railway.
Armenian Railways was handed over to the South Caucasus Railways on February 13, 2008 for 30-year concession management with a right to prolong the management term for other 10 years. --0--
