YEREVAN, June 18. /ARKA/. At its session on Thursday, the National Assembly of Armenia adopted in its second and final reading a law establishing minimum requirements for liability insurance for air carriers and aircraft operators.

According to Armen Simonyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, the initiative stems from the Common Aviation Area Agreement with the European Union, signed in 2021 and ratified by the Armenian Parliament.

According to him, the law aims to align national legislation with European standards.

Simonyan noted that the document regulates insurance obligations in the air transport sector.

"In particular, it establishes requirements for liability insurance for organizations holding an aircraft operator certificate, flight and maintenance personnel, baggage, cargo, and third parties," he said.

The Deputy Minister stated that the law also defines legal relations between key industry participants in the insurance sector and establishes minimum insurance limits, aligned with EU requirements.
