Armenia is working to diversify agricultural exports; dialogue with Russia continues – MP

YEREVAN, August 13. /ARКА/. The Armenian government is actively working to tackle the challenges faced by businesses in the agricultural sector, as stated by Sargis Khandanyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party.

"There are programs approved by the government, and we are also addressing, resolving, and implementing issues related to the transportation of agricultural and other products to different regions while ensuring compliance with necessary requirements," he mentioned in parliament.

In terms of resolving this matter with Russia, Khandanyan remarked that "Armenia will continue its dialogue with Russian partners patiently and seek solutions."

"I believe that our other partners in the EAEU recognize that this situation is harmful not just to Armenia, but also to the organization itself and its member states," he added.

Since late May, Russia has been gradually imposing restrictions on the import of certain products from Armenia, citing breaches of phytosanitary regulations. These restrictions encompass flowers, mineral water, specific beverages and alcoholic drinks, vegetables, fruits, berries, grapes, potatoes, dried fruits, and later live fish and fish products. Dairy products were added to the list on July 27.

Additionally, there is a prohibition on the transit of Armenian-origin products through Russia to other EAEU nations.-0-
