Armenia's trade with EEU member countries in 2023 up 39% to $7.8 bln- Pashinyan

Armenia's trade with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member countries in 2023 surged by 39% when compared to 2022 to about $7.8 billion, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Friday.

YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Armenia's trade with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member countries in 2023 surged by 39% when compared to 2022 to about $7.8 billion, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Friday.

"Exports have increased by 40.8% and imports by 37.5%," Pashinyan said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Armenia holds the 12-month rotating chairmanship of the organization that includes also Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Pashinyan emphasized that within the framework of its presidency of the EEU, the Armenian side will continue efforts to promote initiatives aimed at practical achievement of the four freedoms in order to improve the living standards of the citizens of the member states.    

According to the National Statistical Committee of Armenia, the country’s total foreign trade turnover in 2023 exceeded $20.72 billion, which is 46% higher than in 2022.

Exports grew by 55.3% to almost $8.42 bln, while imports were over $12.3 bln, recording a 40.2% increase. --0--
