Armenia's government is working out a program to support farmers in irrigation water supplies, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said Thursday at a regular Cabinet session.
YEREVAN, February 5. /ARKA/. Armenia's government is working out a program to support farmers in irrigation water supplies, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said Thursday at a regular Cabinet session.
He said referring to experts' forecasts that 2015 will be a low water year. The premier said that the matter has been discussed with concerning agencies and preparations for sowing season outlined.
«We arranged with the president to discuss these issues the next week, since there is necessity to organize mechanical irrigation and subsidize AMD 3 billion,» he said.
Abrahamyan also said that the Cabinet ministers will decide at their next regular meeting to provide farmers with irrigation water and added that the government will make every effort to support farming in Armenia.
He said the government is already supporting farmers by providing seeds, fertilizers and diesel to them for free or at preferential prices. --0-----
