YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/. Russia's tightening of import conditions for a number of agricultural goods and finished food products is creating additional challenges for the relevant sectors of Armenia. This is stated in the Central Bank of Armenia's report on the implementation of its monetary policy program for the period from the third quarter of 2025 to the second quarter of 2026.

According to the report, given the limited availability of alternative export destinations, this could lead to a decline in income in the Armenian economy.

"Russia's tightening of import standards for Armenian producers could lead to a weakening of income and demand in Armenia, which could also have an additional deflationary impact due to the risk of excess supply in certain domestic markets," the document states.

The report also found that by the end of the period under review, a number of product categories exported to Russia, particularly tomatoes and fresh fish, experienced significantly deeper price declines than expected based on seasonal trends. The regulator attributes this to stricter import conditions and limited export opportunities.
