Experts name most popular careers in Armenia
YEREVAN, September 16. / ARKA /. The most popular jobs in the Armenian labor market are in the IT industry, according to data, provided to telecom.arka.am telecommunications portal by the largest recruitment agencies of the country.

The list of the top 5 most sought-after professions includes sales and services consultants, sales managers, as well as accountants and administrative staff.

According to a representative of JOB.am recruitment agency, the average gross wage offered by employers is 159,000 drams. According to another recruitment agency, the salaries range from 70,000 to 150 000 drams.

A representative of HR.am recruitment agency says Armenian employers do not specify the size of salaries in the vacancy announcements, so that to have the opportunity to meet to some extent the expectations of potential employees during the interview.

The average gross monthly  wage in Armenia, according to official data, in June 2015 was 180,989 drams, or about 0.7% more than in May 2015 and 8.5% more than in June 2014.

According to the National Statistical Service (NSS), the highest salaries were boasted by finance and insurance sectors - 366,100  drams,  information and communications sectors- 351,400 drams and the mining industry – 345,000 drams.  The lowest paid sectors were education - 117,400 drams; culture, entertainment and recreation – 118,200 drams; agriculture, forestry and fishery – 120,100 drams.

Vahagn Hovhannisyan from the State Employment Agency says there is a chronic mismatch between  supply and demand in the Armenian labor market.

According to him, this is to be blamed on a number of factors, in particular, the existing stereotypes of career choices, originating from the Soviet era, rapidly changing economic conditions, structural unemployment, weak link between the education and the labor market and the general socio-demographic situation in the country.

According to the NSS, the unemployment rate in Armenia in the first quarter of 2015 increased by 1.3 percentage points from the year before to 19.1% of the economically active population. 0-
