YEREVAN, June 22. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has passed today a decision repealing the compulsory certificates of compliance for goods that are not subject to technical regulation. Deputy minister of economy, Karine Minasyan, said the decision applies to business entities engaged in import and production of food.
In response to a question from prime minister Tigran Sarkisian whether the cancellation of the compulsory requirement was not a threat to food security, Minasyan said the certification is formal failing to provide due security and is used also as a safeguard against supervisory authorities.
The prime minister said that the companies that produce food are required to establish internal control, have their labs to check their products and when a dangerous food is detected then the security system of that company is not working properly and the company should be punished. -0-
