Manufacturing production in Armenia in first 2 months of 2025 decreased by 26.2% to 243.2 billion drams

The volume of production in the manufacturing industry for January-February 2025 amounted to 243,163.2 million drams, a decrease of 26.2% compared to January-February 2024.

YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. The volume of production in the manufacturing industry for January-February 2025 amounted to 243,163.2 million drams, a decrease of 26.2% compared to January-February 2024. This is according to data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.

At the same time, the volume of industrial output in February amounted to 127,369.7 million drams, a decline of 33.3% compared to February 2023, but an increase of 9.5% compared to January 2024.

The largest share of the overall industry structure for the two months came from food production, which accounted for 31.1%. This segment showed a growth of 6.6% compared to January-February of the previous year, with output worth 75,534.7 million drams.

The top five by share also include the production of tobacco products: share - 18.4%, growth - 93.1%, volume - 44,576.4 million drams; production of basic metals: share - 14.6%, decline - 77%, volume - 35,582.7 million drams; production of beverages: share - 10%, decline - 25.5%, volume - 24,355.3 million drams; and production of other non-metallic mineral products: share - 6.5%, growth - 7.2%, volume - 15,786.8 million drams.

The production of rubber and plastic products accounted for 2.6% (growth of 12.2%, volume - 6,459.8 million drams), as well as printing activities related to the replication of recorded information carriers (growth of 29%, volume - 6,259.4 million drams). Similarly, clothing production and electrical equipment production both accounted for 1.9% each. Clothing production saw a decline of 16.5%, with a volume of 4,679.6 million drams, while electrical equipment production saw a growth of 27.4%, with a volume of 4,536.5 million drams.

The share of paper and paper products production is 1.8% (a decline of 1.8%, volume - 4,428.1 million drams). 1.3% each was accounted for by the production of chemical industry products (growth of 28.8%, volume - 3,198.6 million drams) and finished metal products except for machinery and equipment (growth of 6.9%, volume - 3,177.5 million drams). Likewise, 0.9% each was accounted for by the production of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations (growth of 23.4%, volume - 2,217.0 million drams), as well as furniture production (a decline of 11%, volume - 2,110.1 million drams).

Next come the production of machinery and equipment not included in other groups (share - 0.8%, growth of 83.3%, volume - 1,967.2 million drams), the production of computers, electronics, and optical products (share - 0.6%, growth of 2.6 times, volume - 1,417.5 million drams), repair and installation of machinery and equipment (share - 0.5%, growth of 11.6%, volume - 1,187.7 million drams), production of textile products (share - 0.3%, growth of 14.1%, volume - 682.8 million drams), and the production of leather goods (share - 0.2%, a decline of 17.5%, volume - 270.2 million drams).

Lastly, 0.1% each falls on wood processing (growth of 0.3%, volume - 342.4 million drams) and the production of coke and oil products (a decline of 28.4%, volume - 162.7 million drams).

The share of production in categories not included in other groups is 1.6%.

The total volume of industrial production in Armenia for January-February 2025 amounted to 380,486.7 million drams (at current prices), which is a 19.4% decrease compared to January-February 2024, and a 41.3% decline compared to December 2024. ($1 = 391.14 drams).
