YEREVAN, February 17. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced plans to organize a business forum in April to discuss a set of management issues, which are of concern to Armenian entrepreneurs.

Addressing the business community, he noted that no one denies the existence of shortcomings in the managerial area.

“In the process of working with the messages coming from the business community, I have come to the conclusion that it is necessary to consider problems and opportunities in the field of economic activity and investment environment, priorities for improving the efficiency of governance and reforms in a joint format of the government-National Assembly-Local Self-Government-Business and make joint decisions,” Pashinyan wrote in a Facebook post.

He invited the heads of companies that paid taxes worth 50 million drams or more in 2024, who are willing to share their ideas on improving the business atmosphere to participate in the forum.

“I also invite heads of organizations uniting representatives of SMEs to present their issues of concern for discussion,” the Prime Minister noted, suggesting they send applications for participation in the forum to the e-mail address workshop2025@gov.am till February 28, indicating up to three topical issues. The most mentioned of them will be included in the agenda of the forum.

Representatives of small and medium-sized businesses have been protesting in front of the Armenian government building for sdays. They oppose the changes in the Tax Code, which provide for an increase in the turnover tax rate from 5% to 10%, as well as the introduction of a system of mandatory income declaration.

Businessmen point out that the change, which came into force on January 1, 2025, has increased their tax burden several times, as a result of which SME representatives may face serious problems.-0-
