Subway restaurant chain plans to open over 60 locations in Armenia

The international fast-food chain Subway is considering entering the Armenian market and opening over 60 locations, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy reported.

This issue was discussed at a meeting between Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, Subway's Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, Efe Celik, and Armenian investor Levon Hayrapetyan.
According to the ministry, the investment for each restaurant could range from $150,000 to $300,000.
Company representatives stated that the project could contribute to the creation of new jobs, the development of international franchising, the attraction of local suppliers, and the implementation of international standards in the catering industry.
Deputy Minister of Economy Lilia Sirakanyan and Director of the Investment Support Center Foundation Gohar Abajyan also participated in the meeting.
Subway is an American international fast-food restaurant chain founded in 1965 in Connecticut. Its menu focuses on sandwiches, wraps, and salads, and most locations operate under a franchise model. There are over 35,000 Subway restaurants worldwide, operated by independent franchisees. Since 2024, the company has been owned by the American investment firm Roark Capital.
