Switalski says CEPA to bring fresh investments to Armenia
YEREVAN, December 15. /ARKA/. The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) that Armenia and the European Union signed on November 24, will bring fresh European investments to the Armenian economy, the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, ambassador Piotr  Switalski said today.

Speaking at the second congress of the European Business Association of Armenia, Switalski said the agreement not only creates prospects for improving the business environment in Armenia and reforming its  economy as a whole, but also opens up new opportunities for European entrepreneurs to invest in the Armenian economy. In his words, this will contribute to the development of the country.

The diplomat also said  that the Armenian authorities are making every effort to ensure that the citizens of the country feel the positive effects of the agreement as soon as possible.

Switalski said the European Union is ready to render all necessary assistance to the Armenian authorities in the implementation of the provisions of the agreement so that young people in the first place believe that they  can achieve all that they dream about in their country too.

The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement was initialed on March 21, 2017, by Armenia and the European Union. The agreement will enter into force after all 28 EU member states and Armenia ratify it.

Armenia and the EU were supposed to sign the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) at a 2013 November Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius but on September 3 Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan announced that the country was going to become part of the Russian-led Customs Union.

On December 7, 2015 Armenia and the EU launched talks on a new framework agreement after EU Foreign Affairs Council authorized earlier the European Commission and the High Representative to open negotiations on a new legal basis for relations with Armenia. -0-
