Switzerland to help Armenia restore flood-damaged bridges in Lori and Tavush

YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. The Swiss government will support Armenia in restoring bridges damaged by floods caused by heavy rains in the Lori and Tavush provinces on May 25-26, 2024. This was reported by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia following a meeting between Minister David Khudatyan and the Swiss Ambassador to Armenia, Lucas Rosenkranz.
During the meeting, discussions also covered issues related to promoting reforms in local self-government, as well as the restoration and strengthening of infrastructure in Armenia.
An emergency situation developed in Tavush and Lori due to heavy rainfall on May 25-26, as well as the flooding of the Debed, Aghstev, and Tashir rivers. The natural disaster claimed the lives of four people, while more than 440 individuals were rescued and evacuated. The affected settlements in these two provinces have been declared disaster zones.
