Trade turnover between Armenia and Russia in 2024 set an absolute record, reaching $12 bln – Zakharova

YEREVAN, March 27. /ARKA/. The Armenian-Russian trade in 2024 set an absolute record growing to $12 billion, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today.
“The specialized economic departments are working on measures to increase investment interaction,” she said at a press briefing, explaining that economic ties between the two countries are developing.
Zakharova also said that an Armenian delegation plans to visit the Sirius educational center (in Russia) next month to speed up the opening of a Russian educational center for gifted children in Armenian Jermuk.
The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added that Yerevan feels the practical benefits of active participation in the Eurasian integration project and realizes its importance for the country's socio-economic stability and security.
Russia has been Armenia's largest trade partner for decades. According to the latest data of Armstat, in January-December 2024, the trade turnover between Armenia and Russia amounted to $12.4 billion with an increase of 56.5% compared to 2023. Exports totaled $3.2 billion, down by 10.7%, while imports (from the exporting country) amounted to $9.4 billion (2.1-fold growth). -0-
