YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. In the second quarter of 2026, Armenia's GDP experienced a growth of 6.7% compared to the same quarter in 2025, as reported by the Statistical Committee.

The economic growth rate has picked up compared to the first quarter of this year, where GDP rose by 5.2% year-on-year. When compared to the first quarter of 2026, the economy expanded by 19.2% in the second quarter.

Armenia's nominal GDP for the second quarter reached 2,834,894.2 million drams, with gross value added contributing 2,523,831.8 million drams, representing 89% of the GDP.

Among the key sectors, the most significant growth was seen in administration and related activities (25.5%), finance and insurance (22.4%), transportation and warehousing (22.2%), mining and open-pit mine operation (21.5%), construction (20%), and information and communications (15%).

Conversely, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries saw a decline of 15.3% year-on-year (6.6% of GDP). The wholesale and retail trade, along with automobile and motorcycle repair, which make up 14.6% of GDP, experienced a slight decrease of 0.2%. Manufacturing, however, saw an increase of 2.2%.

In the second quarter of 2026, GDP per capita was AMD 913,892, equivalent to $2,468 (EUR 2,122). Armenian Economic Figures and Forecasts

The state budget for 2026 anticipates an economic growth rate of 5.4% in Armenia. The Central Bank's monetary policy report for the second quarter of this year projects GDP growth to be between 4.5% and 4.1% by the end of 2026, depending on different scenarios (A-B).

International financial institutions have made the following economic growth forecasts for Armenia in 2026: World Bank - 5.3%; IMF - 5.25%; ADB - 5.5%; EBRD - 5.5%; EDB - 6%; S&P Global Ratings - 5.3%; Fitch Ratings - 5.2%. ($1 = 365.26 drams).-0-
