TRIPP, Railway to Turkey and Nakhichevan: What the Armenian Government Plans for 2026-2031

YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. The Armenian government's agenda for 2026-2031 includes the initiation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, which aims to establish a railway connection to Turkey and Nakhichevan.

In particular, the TRIPP route will see the development of railway infrastructure, with plans to reconstruct and operationalize the Gyumri-Akhurik-Armenia border with Turkey and the Yeraskh-Armenia border with Nakhichevan railway segments.

The program highlights that the railway management system will undergo revisions to ensure it does not obstruct the historic chance to integrate the Republic of Armenia into the established international transport network.

About the TRIPP Project

The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project aims to develop a cohesive multimodal transit infrastructure in Armenia while ensuring the republic retains full sovereignty over the infrastructure within its borders.

The project is designed to facilitate transport connections between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as to enhance regional routes that link Central Asia and the Caspian region to Europe.

In June 2026, Armenia and the United States formalized a framework agreement on strategic cooperation for TRIPP, leading to the establishment of a joint Armenian-American entity, the TRIPP Development Company, to oversee the project's execution.

TRIPP is viewed as a component of the larger Trans-Caspian Trade Route. To encourage private investment along this corridor, the United States initiated the Trans-Caspian Enterprise Fund, which has been endowed with $201 million from the US government.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that TRIPP is fundamentally an investment initiative, anticipated to attract billions of dollars in new investments to Armenia.-0-
