Armenian Parliament elected heads of standing committees
YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. On Thursday, the National Assembly of Armenia elected the chairs for its standing committees. The opposition Strong Armenia bloc's nominees for these positions were not successful, as the ruling Civil Contract faction voted against them.
Candidates from the Strong Armenia, including Hayk Farmanyan and Andranik Gevorgyan for the Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Committee, as well as Arega Hovsepyan for the European Integration Committee, were not elected.
In contrast, Lilit Galstyan from the opposition Armenia bloc was elected as chair of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Public Affairs.
All nominees from the Civil Contract party were successfully elected, including Trdat Sargsyan as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, Nazeli Baghdasaryan as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Labor and Welfare, Sisak Gabrielyan as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Sports, and Diaspora, Sargis Khandanyan as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Arusyak Julhakyan as Chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, Vilen Gabrielyan as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security, and Babken Tunyan as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.-0-
