YEREVAN, March 14. /ARKA/. Armenia’s capital city Yerevan will host later this year an international exhibition forum "Eurasian Week," a Eurasian Economic Commission minister for integration and macroeconomics Tatiana Valovaya said during a meeting with the ambassadors representing the member states of  the East African Community (EAC).

She invited secretary general of the East African Community and representatives of EAC member states to participate in that  forum.

Valovaya said also that the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the EAC in many respects have overlapping integration agendas solving similar tasks. Consequently, she said, the dialogue between the blocs will make it possible to avoid potential e mistakes and to respond more effectively to emerging challenges during the integration course.

The East African Community (EAC) is an intergovernmental organization that includes six East African countries (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Southern Sudan), with a total territory of more than 1.8 million square km and a population of more than 115 million people. It  was founded in 1967.

The trade turnover between the EEU and  EAC in 2017 reached $802.9 million, an increase of 42.3% from the previous year. The growth in exports was driven by a 1.9-fold increase in the supply of grain, and imports by  a multiple growth  in the import of fruits and vegetables from the EAC member countries. -0-
