YEREVAN, May 22. /ARKA/. The Swiss voted Sunday for a massive overhaul of the country's energy system by gradually replacing the power from its ageing nuclear reactors with renewable sources, media resources report.

According to the reports, 58.2% of Swiss voters supported the move at Sunday's referendum.

Now nuclear power plants generate about 30% of the country’s demand for the electric power.

Sunday's vote paves the way for the government to gradually begin taking the measures.

Now the country will rely rather on solar, wind and hydro energy. --0---
