Armenia to greet autumn with 40-degree Celsius heat

YEREVAN, August 29. /ARKA/. Hot weather, dry conditions and record temperatures across Armenia mean increased risks of extreme wildfires, the country's Weather Service warned today.
It said the ultraviolet index in the Ararat valley and in the foothills of Aragatsotn, Kotayk and Vayots Dzor regions is expected to be higher than the norm and that is why experts advise that people avoid staying under direct sunlight from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No precipitation is expected on August 29-31 and September 1-2. The wind is southeastern with gusts up to 2-5 meters per second.
The highest temperatures are expected on September 1-2 in the Ararat region, where it will rise to 38-40 degrees Celsius. In the foothills of Vayots Dzor on that day the temperature is expected to grow to 37-39 degrees, and in the foothills of Kotayk, in Armavir, and in the valleys of Syunik and in Artsakh - up to 38 degrees.
In Yerevan, the temperature will be 37-39 degrees Celsius on Monday afternoon, and it will remain unchanged for the next four. -0-
