Secretary of Armenian Security Council says CSTO member-states stand ready to meet challenges

CSTO member-states are ready to combine efforts to combat security threats and meet challenges, Secretary of RA National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan said at the final meeting of the CSTO Security Council.

YEREVAN, September 3. /ARKA/. CSTO member-states are ready to combine efforts to combat security threats and meet challenges, Secretary of RA National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan said at the final meeting of the CSTO Security Council.

“Having to face many challenges, we have coordinated our activities. We have planned a schedule to discuss cooperation issues,” Baghdasaryan was quoted saying.

He did not rule out possible establishment of a center to keep people safe from security threats. According to Baghdasaryan, the secret services and law enforcement agencies of CSTO member-states are already discussing joint projects. The ministries of internal affairs plan to set up a joint committee to thwart security threats. “We have many interesting ideas and project and we plan to implement them with our colleagues,” Baghdasaryan added.

Secret operations as Channel and Illegal are rather effective in combating smuggling and illegal immigration, he said.
Baghdasaryan stressed the importance of staunch financial support to intergovernmental programs.

He approved of intergovernmental military cooperation and vowed to continue effective cooperation with CSTO members. Z. Sh. –0--
