President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan sent a telegram of condolence to the President of Haiti, René Garcia Préval, on the occasion of the devastating earthquake in that country that resulted in huge destructions and numerous human losses, the presidential press office reported. It quoted President Sargsyan as saying that “Armenia is ready to send assistance to Haiti.
Earlier Nikolay Grigorian, an aide to the chief of Armenian Rescue Service, said to Novosti Armenia news agency that a 52-member team of Armenian rescuers was ready to fly to Haiti to join rescue efforts.
Two huge 7 and 5 magnitude earthquakes hit Haiti earlier this week razing to ground its capital city Porto au-Prince. According to some estimates, they may have killed half a million people. -0-
